So, as you may or may not know i am a massive Gymshark fan.
The clothes are amazing, in my opinion there are no other companies that come close to the design, fit and general noise they make in the fitness industry.
From humble beginnings in Birmingham Gymshark has grown at an electrifying rate to become a market leader paving the way in sport fashion trends, social media campaigns and a brand that has become one of the most recognisable around.
This past weekend Gymshark held their biggest and best pop up event in Manchester and it was incredible!
From the athletes to the venue, the free low cal ice-cream to the customisable clothing available from a print press right in front of you, the weekend was fantastic! I simply cannot praise Gymshark enough for their all round effort, professional approach to all their promotion, amazing and friendly staff and simply the ability to create an atmosphere that was buzzing with excitement!
I think it's pretty awesome how they do it because, let's be honest, they're a clothing brand not unlike Adidas or Nike...but i don't think either of those sport behemoths could compete with what Gymshark has created and continue to build on...a sense of community, a belonging, a club if you like.
I have never seen people genuinely excited to buy a tee or a pair of leggings, but that's the magic that they have created and you simply can't replicate that with money or a fancy ad campaign.
It also has to be said that the Gymshark athletes are a massive draw to these events, as well as helping with the promotion of the products.
The likes of Steve Cook, Ryan Terry and David Laid are idols to so many of the male populous, with their own strong social media presence, as are the likes of Whitney Simmons, Nikki Blackletter and Robin Gallant for the ladies. To see inspirational people online and through social media day to day and then have the opportunity to go and meet them is a fantastic experience for fans.
The motivation that the athletes provide is something that can't be bought. You meet these people and they ooze positivity and give you the confidence and the will to be the best that you can be, whether you do crossfit or you're an aspiring bodybuilder. I simply loved the event from beginning to end and i cannot find fault anywhere.
Did i mention that they laid on FREE tubs of low cal ice cream? Probably, but how good is that?? There is no expense spared and it doesn't feel like an event where you go to shop at all, it feels like someone has organised an amazing weekend for you and all you have to do is turn up! There is no hard sell, there is no pressure from anybody to do anything.
All you do is turn up and have a great time meeting genuinely lovely people who are all on the same level when it comes to their journey or ambitions. It's like a special club and if you're in then you're considered family.
So for now Manchester is done and Gymshark will be planning their next pop up event, though where that will be is anybody guess. One thing for sure is that the next time they have an event in the UK i will be there, no matter where it is.
On a personal level gymshark and their whole ethos has had an impact on me for the better. The whole culture and being able to follow the athletes and learn from them, as well as just being inspired, is worth more than any amount of money. I am proud to be a part of the Gymshark lifting club, the family, the movement and the culture.
It gave me the confidence and motivated me to become what i am today, a fully qualified PT and online trainer/coach. My website Blueprintpt brings me not only a career but genuine happiness and a sense of fulfilment helping others. I couldn't wish for more than that.
What motivates you? Let me know...
As always, till next time.
